LIONESS Wins Division 8 and Takes Third Overall at the 2026 ALIR

LIONESS is back on the podium. At the 49th Around Long Island Regatta, hosted by Sea Cliff Yacht Club from July 23 to 26, the boat won Spinnaker Division 8 and placed 3rd overall in the PHRF fleet.

The ALIR sends the fleet 207 nautical miles around Long Island, starting off the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, out past Brooklyn and east along the south shore on the only true ocean leg in local distance racing, around Montauk and back in through the Sound to finish off Sea Cliff. LIONESS started with Division 8 on Thursday afternoon and finished on Saturday morning at 08:58:42, an elapsed time of 1 day, 19 hours, 13 minutes and 42 seconds. On a rating of 24, that corrected to 1 day, 17 hours, 50 minutes and 54 seconds.

That was enough to take the division by 56 minutes and 15 seconds from CROCODILE, a Beneteau First 50, and to put the Sydney 38 third on corrected time across the whole PHRF fleet, behind only a Club Swan 42 and a J/120.

This is the second win of the season for LIONESS under Lion Sailing ownership, after the boat took the 2026 EDLU Race in May. Same boat, same sails, same people. Congratulations to the crew.
